Tunis , July 25, 2007-- In an address delivered on the occasion of Tunisia 's 50 th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic, President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali said that the establishment of the Republic in Tunisia had “materialized the notions of citizenship for all Tunisians, men and women, making the people the decisive reference in the management of the country's affairs”.
President Ben Ali grants an amnesty to a number of prisoners
Tunis , July 24, 2007-- On the occasion of the 50 th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic, President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali has decided to grant the presidential pardon to a number of prisoners.

July 21, 2007--After the announcement on Friday by the Democratic Constitutional Rally's Secretary General of a nationwide program of celebrations of the 50 th anniversary of the promulgation of the Republic on July 25, several opposition parties have also announced a program of conferences to commemorate this historical event.
